Just got mine yesterday. So far so good. Will try to go take some more pictures today as weather permits.
Seems to be quite fun to use.
And was surprised to get sharp shots at 1/8 sec (with IBIS, A7riii)
Thanks FM for the detailed review that helped me decide !

Compressed RAW processed with Capture One express 12
-0.7 EV for both, aperture priority .
The first one: I tuned the dynamic range highlight and shadow, and increased a bit the green saturation.
f8 1/1250s ISO 100
The one at night, I only increased the shadow a bit. 1/8s (no tripod) f7.1 ISO 1600
I really like the combination of this lens able to keep a good contrast / good flare resistance, and the dynamic range of the sensor. The sky and clouds look like there was a polarized filter.

Out of interest, what's this lens perform like on the original A7 please? Especially in the corners.
I know some of the wider CV lenses weren't good but I presume that's because they were M mount....?

It's still very new, and not many folks on here seem to shoot with the 1st Gen Axx cameras. I can say that I owned the M Skopar *25mm* f/4 and the corners were abyssmal. This is very clearly an improvement on that design, as it relates to usage on Sony. That lens was amazingly sharp in the center, but had a pronounced cyan cast, deep vignetting and corner smearing. This lens is a whole different animal.
I *will* say that, with the contacts taped over and the in-camera corrections disabled, there is a very, VERY slight color cast to the vignetting, when the lens is wide open at close distances. There may be baked-in corrections for it, and there is always corrections in post. It's possible that I am also seeing it because I know exactly what to look for, having dealt with the 25/4. It doesn't bother me at all, but I'm sure it'll be mentioned by the pixel-peeping minions.

Some "attitude" on those kids! Love them (the shots I mean - the kids look exhausting!)
And I think after reading this thread I know what is on my list for Santa this year. Thanks to everyone who posted something - warts and all - particularly appreciate the hood trick.

Ha! So true. I'm only there for an hour every other week. I feel like I got run over by a truck every time I leave. It's fun, but very exhausting. I have a WHOLE new level of respect for teachers, especially ones dealing with early childhood.

Unexpectedly last weekend turned into one of the top 5 sunrises of the year with magic light crafting the dramatic shapes of this seascape location. The tiny 21mm Voigtlander added the majestic sunstar to complete the scene.

Firstly, that is certainly some feeling caught in those images Nice one!
I have the CV40/1.4M & I'm waiting on the CV40/1.2E - for portraits the f/1.4 gives a lovely look at times but for woodland/city/etc the smeary corners bug me.....!
As you say, my thinking was that because this 21mm is designed for Sony & not Leica the cast/smearing won't be there - or will be significantly reduced! It's main use would be landscape so it would spend most of it's time nearer infinity than MFD I would imagine. Sounds promising. Thanks for the input

fplstudio,
"we’ve got pretty good swell here in Australia:-)"
I'm going to find out for myself. I'm going to be taking a long trip in the new year to Thailand, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. At least 2 months of travel. I'm going to get my lenses organised and then I'm going on a long photography tour. I want to spend a lot of my time in Australia in the outback. Any recommendations?
