Yes it has a extra ring. So screw on hood like normal than line it up than take the floating ring and screw that down towards the hood. Becomes very secure which now I can just grab the hood and take lens off and on. This would work nice with Loxias as well. Not cheap 39 dollars but totally solves the on /off issue.
I bought them at Amazon. I might buy a few more for other lenses like my CV 50 1.2

I checked my Loxia21 and unfortunately the hood mount is part of the front section of the lens that moves as focus is adjusted, so holding the lens by the hood to mount it would not be advisable . Not an issue for me though, as I don't like hoods anyway.

What would be someone's guess for an inverted screw-in hood for the 21/3.5?
I'm thinking of a 52mm to 46mm or so step down ring. The hood that comes with it is kind of annoying to me and I like inverted hoods.

^ GMPhotography, thank you. That's reasonable. I have really enjoyed reading your posts and taking in your photos over the hundreds of pages I've read on the FM forums.
Looks like my lens lineup will be all CV, and that's A-Okay with me. I think I will get the Laowa 15mm down the road, though.

I have both and can't see ever wanting to part with either. They are both one-of-a-kind for what they are.
15/2 gives you macro capabilities and shallow DOF at a wide AOV - similar effect to the 40/1.2, but it's dense and yes, specialized. 21/3.5 gives you a moderate ultrawide FOV in a tiny package.

Okay, I love this forum! I thought I was settled on getting the Laowa 15mm F2 Zero D, but then I find this lens.
I'm grossly fond of the CV 40mm 1.2 and want a wide lens to compliment it.
I know they are fairly different focal lengths, but which would you recommend getting, taking all their positives and negatives into effect?

I’m all CV and very happy. I have the CV 15 which is a lot smaller than the Laowa 15 which I had and loved. But I wanted more a travel kit and the Laowa was a little bit big for my bag. But it’s pluses are there F 2 close focus and distortion is good.
Than I have the CV 21 which is quite small and I’m really liking this lens. For the money it’s under priced as it’s so darn close to the Loxia 21, really a coin flip. Than I have the CV 35 Ultron with PCX which is really nice and I went with the 50 1.2 in M mount. I wanted a little longer on this lens more for people type shots. It’s very much like the 40 in almost all ways.
But I think right now having a 21 or 24/25 pairs very nicely with the CV 40.
One thing I always say build a system not a lens. Think ahead on your gapping and your usage. The 15 is awesome but it is the least lens used in the kit. So maybe get that last and get your mid focal lengths first from wide to mid tele

I'd love an E mount Ultron 28/2 *with* a focus tab. The M version I had was awesome, but if they tailored the formula for E it could be DANGEROUS.
Only other request I have is a 90/2 or 2.8 that handles and renders like the Nokton. Character wide open, sharp stopped down. Close-focusing to 0.5m for portraits would be ideal. And small-ish. Pretty please?
On another note, I also find the 21/3.5 to have a very neutral character. Not a complaint, but compared to the Laowa or Nokton, it requires a bit of added contrast and saturation in post to get things where I want, usually. I'd call it an "honest" rendering.

Funny not noticing that on the CV 21. I read this before from another member and my eyebrows went up.
It maybe tough for me too as I’m in the brightest sunlight in pretty much all over the globe. It’s bright as hell here. Let’s face it, it is the desert. I’ll play with that more

Picked this one up today after being underwhelmed (somewhat expected) by the Samyang 24mm. More than anything it just wasn't wide enough for me. I think i'm going to like this length and makes for a convenient size and capable point and shoot. Some quick snaps from today.

Thanks!! Yours as well!
And ditto on your experience with the Samyang 24. Similar to the 50->40mm shift, now I think I actually like 21mm much better than 24mm for cramped interiors et all.
The band is called Cast Shadows, I'm working on a video for them, but I gotta keep it kinda hush-hush for now. They are really amazing, the accordionist (main composer) plays multiple instruments simultaneously. So good!

Thank you again, Guy.
I think four lenses will set me up with the right system. I'll get the 21mm f3.5 next, followed by the 110mm f2.5 for my tele, and lastly the Laowa 15mm f2. My spacing with this kit will be 19.19°-32.74°-29.87° (short to long) horizontally between each lens. No small gaps and pretty much everything covered.
You guys are doing great work by helping beginners like myself organise the correct kits, while not wasting money.

Nice plan with the gaps there David. I had got a calculator in FM earlier to visualize FOV differences - try that out https://vahonen.info/fov/ . Really nice (courtesy: Samuli)
For now mine is 21 3.5, 40 1.2 and 90 3.5 (SLII). 110 hopefully will join after Dec 7, long wait but it will be a bit heavy and may enter my specialty lenses line up. I will add a 28.

Just got mine yesterday. So far so good. Will try to go take some more pictures today as weather permits.
Seems to be quite fun to use.
And was surprised to get sharp shots at 1/8 sec (with IBIS, A7riii)
Thanks FM for the detailed review that helped me decide !
