I just returned from Brazil (the Pantanal to be exact) and had a great time taking pictures of the many birds and mammals that call this place home!
We saw over 180 species of birds, and this was not a birding tour at all! plus 18 species of mammals including the beautiful jaguar and a few reptiles and amphibians.
We found 14 individual jaguars and they were spotted at least 20 times during our four-night stay at the Cuiabá River.
Here is just a small sample of the many species we were able to photograph.
Thanks for looking.

Road-side Hawk in first morning light, or should I say river-side hawk??
A cooperative Crab-eating Fox.

Pied Plover or Pied Lapwing in flight, Canon 5DIII and 600mm, some crop for composition.
Great shots. I tracked you down on twitter to follow. I'd love to do the pantanal tour, just not sure I could afford it. At this point, I just want to get back to Costa Rica next year again.
The detail in the first is outstanding and all are very well photographed. The last is my next to top pick with that backlit fox my pick as it's very well done and so creative. I have a special appreciation for it because of my former career as a theatre lighting designer.

Great to hear that you like the fox image! it was love at first sight for me as it was my first crab-eating fox! I wanted something a bit different and it turn out that we used two light for it, I also tried just a backlit image but this one turned out better.
