Thank you Wayne and all. The sun behind me was going into and out of the clouds and this was the darkest of the bunch. It looks better (here) bringing out a little detail out of the (subtle) shadows, as opposed to the partly/mostly sunny spots that happened seconds later. So it's good to keep taking photos as the light keeps changing, because you don't know how it will look until you start processing the photos.
Didn't someone post that last year wasn't a good one for color in Colorado? I hope they see your post: great color, great skies, great textures, great compositions. I hope this year turns out as well. Beautiful images.

WOW. Awesome capture and PP. Mountain settings are awesome, and the light AND clouds really make the pics (esp the second pic) outstanding.
Last year was different, weaker overall, the colors didn't peak the "usual" synchronized way, but if you seek you will find, and there are always opportunities of some kind. These 2 were from 2 special mornings. Definitely the clouds and the light made the pictures.
Since there are opportunities everywhere, picking and anticipating makes a big difference. I like to stay until the opportunity is over if it feels like the right spot. As opposed to searching for another right spot, while passing on a definitely right spot. Still you can't get them all, and it's never the same conditions.

Wow .. what a beautiful sight. I plan to be in Colorado in a few days.
Good timing, it looks like some weather may move in early next week. Kebler Pass from Lake Irwin to the west still has a ton of changing to do, as does McClure Pass. Those areas should be incredible for another week or two, based on what I saw Monday.
