Looks really a fine lens, especially considering the price, and that small MFD just renders it all the most versatile of course.
I've just grabbed myself a C/Y 35-70 as my walkaround zoom just to save some bucks, but this Tamron seems quite "Zeissy looking" itself in terms of color rendition and micro-contrast
It's an extremely useful lens for the money with some compelling strengths. Versatile range, 2.8 aperture, fast autofocus, generally very sharp, sharp enough wide open to shoot people anywhere in the frame I'd like, short minimum focus distance, weight, size, etc. I use it a lot. I think it makes for a great travel lens, especially if you like to do a little street photography and take pictures of your travel companions in addition to photographing sites. I brought it along with my Voigtlander 40mm and 15mm lenses and was really happy with that combo.
It does have some weaknesses, though. Flare resistance has been the biggest one for me so far, autofocus in low light is less reliable than my FE 85 and can hunt a bit, bokeh can be rough in certain situations though in others it's quite nice. I don't think I have a perfect copy, but I'm just a shitty photographer that enjoys taking photos, certainly not a pro, and it's good enough for me. I kept it anyway because I needed a zoom and I wouldn't have had time to exchange it before my recent trip due to how in demand this lens has been. I'm pretty happy with my kit now and I certainly don't need anymore lenses, though I may add a fast normalish prime with AF in the near future for low light situations where manual focusing the Voigtlander 40mm is either too difficult because subjects are moving a lot, I'm too lazy, too drunk, or some combination thereof.
