Looking at a Great Egret family with both Parents in breeding plumage and a fuzzy nestling and a second barely visible in the foliage and you can see its eye in the nest in a Breeding Colony.
Cropped; tripod mounted100-400mm GM set to 336 mm and A7rIII; silent shutter.
ISO 100, f5.6, 1/1000 second.
Exposure Corrected +0.79 Stops.

Just got a 1.4x TC to help with when birding with A9. f/8 is a bit downer during Nordic winter but otherwise it seems to ok. First pictures from first outing in my backyard. Tomorrow something more adventurous

Today I met scary little boreal owl in my walk. This is shot f/8 @560mm.
With f/8 max aperture 100-400mm GM and 1.4x TC is borderline dark combo for cloudy winter days, but overall I am positively surprised how well it performs also when cloudy and dark. Not so much behind 200-600mm I had. And best of all - much lighter and more compact
