Wal-Mart has these smoke bomb things in a package where you can get a green one, yellow one, and white one, for $6.95, I think. Suddenly occurred to me on July 5 that I should do a smoke bomb shoot so I ran over to Wal-Mart and grabbed a bunch, sent out a group text to my senior ambassadors about doing a impromptu shoot in an hour, and these three showed up. The shot of Amelia (No. 2) has already become the third most-liked image on my IG page, and it has a pretty good shot of getting to No. 1.
Wal-Mart also has these little smoke balls and it's $2 for a package of 12 or 16, something like that. So I used 4 to 8 of these placed on the ground behind the dancers, but it was taking too long to light all of them and I had only one person doing the lighting. The smoke balls only lasted about 30 secs. Seems like the smoke bombs were lasting more than a minute. The smoke bombs have a stick, so they can be handheld and pointed. I had two people doing that. Wind was blowing left to right so I often had to have both smokers on the left, and I often had one in front of the dancer and one in back.
This was a group effort and a lot of fun. Girls totally loved this impromptu shoot. Next up is a controlled rain shot.
These are all good (post more!) but #1 is my favorite for the colors. Ron, you are imaginative and I envy your ability to whip up models on such short notice. And, they are really engaged.
Thanks, shekarn64 and Dan! It's funny to me about the popularity of No. 2 compared to No. 3 on my IG feed. No. 2 has three times the likes of No. 3. It may be because it involves a dance move and many of my followers are dancers.
Dan, I had a little fun coming up with that title.
