Well I have spent a total of 14 sunrises and sunsets in the Sierra backcountry this summer and have yet to get even a wisp of a cloud (that's smoke in image 3). While not unusual outside of monsoon season, it does limit shooting to the edges of sunrise and sunset. We were packing away our cameras before 6am each morning and then not breaking them out again until around 8pm. Makes for long days.... Sharing three from my last trip in late June.
Clouds help, but you don't always need them. Your first two images are perfect examples of that. Your first image is stunning and so beautiful!

Lovely set Dave! I'm really liking #1. Lots of really nice stuff going on in that shot. Great balance too.

The first one is lovely! See what you thinking cropping it square, keeping all the sky.

Love them all, but I think the first is really special.

Nice colors and compositions in each of them. Clouds are nice, but these work just fine without them.
What Fred said. You nailed each of these with your compositions and I actually think the clean sky in the first image is what makes that one so special. Clean, pure, simplistic and very well executed.
