It's so interesting to observe male pin-tailed Whydah dancing to impress his female counterpart. The male Whydah is also very aggressive to other birds even having bigger size, not allowing other birds near his female partner. Treating her like a queen. Thanks for looking

Excellent photographs of a very pretty bird that displays some exotic behavior.
Unfortunately the pin-tailed whydah is not a natural part of the southern California environment. They are an African species that have been introduced here by trade in in pet birds. They are brood parasites that are putting some stress on native species. We will have to wait to see what the impact is as their population grows.
