Just curious if anyone is using the 15mm f2.8 fisheye lens as their standard wide angle on a 20D or other 1.6 crop factor bady. I really like the color/contrast of the 15mm fisheye and I was wondering how normal you can make these images look with a little defishing and subsequent cropping. I use a Mac and just found this software which is free although I havent used it yet
Yes, I am. Just this past week I got the Sigma fisheye (brand new in-box for $375 on eBay) for use on my 20D. I use PTLens to defish, sorry I don't know about Macs. I don't have any real keeper pics to share yet but so far I'm happy with the Fisheye as a general WA lens. 90 degrees is the net view on the 1.6, I think I read that somewhere and after playing around here I probably agree. I thought long and hard about which lens to get. I will still pickup the 17-40 sometime next year but I don't think I want the 10-22 EF-S. I thought the Fisheye provided a suitable WA lens yet offered fun options, too.
I agree with Roger. The PTLens software (free) is very easy to use and does the cropping for you. I have used others that required me to crop manually. I have a PC, not a Mac. I use the Zenitar 16mm fisheye on the 20D with great results.
