This would be a criticism of the filter that he used. Many "good" filters are not coated or have a single coating and they cost less - not cheap but chearper than the multi-coated ones. B&H sells 5 B+W 95mm UV filters that sell for from $73 to $240 which reflects their type of construction.
Not to mention the possibility of fake "branded" filters if he bought the filter from a less reputable retailer.

Lance - beautiful shot of the parrot. Very sharp even at f/5.6 which is great to see. I wish travel times were not so great from the USA to New Zealand. Nice to have it in your backyard, comparatively speaking.
Thank you very much for your kind comments, Elkhornsun. Much appreciated.
I would seriously suggest that you make the effort and get to NZ, especially the South Island, truly spectacular scenery, not only that, it is like stepping back in time as well. The people are very friendly and the food is superb. Absolutely loved the place.
^I've spent 3 weeks on the s.island.
some critical info-
1. What we call elk they call Wapiti and it is served everywhere.
2. If at McDonalds getting a burger you taste something wierd it may be a beet.
3. Speights Beer worth a trip to Dunedin, and you'll be close to the peninsula where Royal Albatross land.
4. If in any sports bar drinking heavily root for the All Blacks.
5. Going from the states do a 48 hour lay in Fiji....your bottom will thank you if like me flying economy.
6. If ever wanting an opossum jacket (or bedspread) NZ is the place to get it.
7. Unlike Oz there are NO poisonous snakes in NZ.

The bird you identified as a kinglet is a female Pine Warbler. They are notoriously hard to ID and never seem to fit into any box very well. I have seen many of them already this spring but still have not managed a proper photo so I am envious.

Thanks! I can’t tell you how long I was trying to figure out what it was and the Kinglet was the only thing I could come close with. Now that you said that I can completely see it.

You do not need to twist my arm to get me thinking about New Zealand. I expect that this part of the world is on most photographers' bucket lists and has been on mine for too many years. Thanks for the advice as to going to the south island.
My mother traveled there more than half a dozen times and would lead tours there with her people staying in people's homes with the shortage of hotels. They all loved the experience.
