Thanks all, they are fun to watch year round. Except for when they hibernate (they go into torpor, not exactly hibernation) between September and January.
May is baby season, my other postings have baby squirrels.

Yes they are in Arizona and elsewhere in southwest and northwestern Mexico. They are in the deserts only, 2500 ft elevation for the ones above.

The following are their California cousins, Belding Ground Squirrels, living at altitude -- 10,000 ft for these ones
