I do a lot of cover shoots for some local magazines and often get to use my high school senior ambassadors as paid models for these shoots, so that makes these extra fun. I'd been looking forward to doing a cover shoot with Caroline.
A lot of these shots are pretty much the same. We were shooting for a single cover, and just wanted the designer to have different options to choose from. These shots are cropped, not quite what I delivered. These are all natural light shots, unless otherwise noted.
Thanks, Jim! You brought up an interesting point. I shot No. 5 before I shot No. 4. I showed the shot to the magazine editor/art director, and we agreed to stop it down as the f/2.8 caused such a blur of the purple blossoms -- which I loved -- but they were no longer identifiable really as blossoms. So I shot No. 4 at f/8 to bring more into focus, but keep the sweet DOF blur going.
Thanks on the white nit, too.

A fine set, Ron.
My fav is #1. Excellent shot. The others a great too.
In another thread, we discussed the blurring of the background. In these shots the background blurring (IMO) is particularly well done.
As a nit (I know Ron likes nits ) The skin colour is whitened a bit more in #3 compared to the first two.
