I could see this as a concept set of two or three photos. Each photo would have similar colors, but different scenes. As a single photo, it's good, but as a set of two or three, it would have more intention. Your second photo, Kid's Parade, would be my first choice over the November Streets, but all of this is just personal opinion.

You are absolutely right. This is a short series of several photos in defocus. I also prefer kid's parade.
An interesting take on one of my favorite lenses (have one on my Sony A7 as we speak and shot with it over the weekend). I definitely prefer kids parade. I would like to see a photo set, side by side!
