p.3 #1 · DxOmark: The Sony A7 III has the best low-light score ever tested

If I compare at iso 25600 (something I would try to avoid at weddings), the A7iii is at least as good as the A7s when compared at equal output size (copy paste the links):

At iso 51k I find it even better than the A7s and A7sii:

I would need to use them alongside each other at the same time to declare one better than the other.

I was just going from DXOmarks charts which has them the same pretty much at higher ISOs except for DR and even that isn't a great difference.

I don't take them as gospel but do find them useful. From those, the three (A7iii, A7sii and A7s) are all pretty close at higher ISOs. The A7iii is clearly better at lower ISOs.

I shoot a lot in low light. Concerts and pub gigs as well as wandering around at night/early morning.

When they were released I had enough money for some reasonable gear and had both an A7 and A7s at the same time. While I used the A7 a lot for a couple of years, I used the A7s a lot more and needed some money so sold the A7.

If I had the money today and wanted one from scratch, I would likely take the A7iii for sure as it pretty much does what the A7 and A7s do together and (mostly) better.

In the meanwhile, I am still very happy with my now aging A7s and will use it until it dies (or I do).
