My wife and I spent the past week at our place over on the Washington coast, it was supposed to be a work week, things to do around the place before summer gets here. But I was able to get out on the beach almost every morning early and that first morning I got a surprise I really wasn’t expecting, I spotted a Gyrfalcon perched up on a driftwood stump.
I looked in every book I had to identify this falcon and finally had to contact the Coastal Raptor Association, to get a positive ID as a Gyrfalcon. They told me that they had banded the falcon in February of this year and that is was a young female falcon.

Congratulations on a superb set - my personal preferences are for 1 and 2 .
I hate to question the authority you quote but although it is unarguably a young grey phase Gyr, having handled these falcons I would be surprised if it were a female - the head and feet look much more like the slightly smaller male to my eye.
However that is picking nits the images are excellent and do credit to a gorgeous falcon.
