What a lovely set Amit and I am glad that you got your captures.
Appreciate the comment. I too am glad as the start of the day was miserable. In addition to not finding the owls, the temperature was in the single digits.

Great photos! I really enjoy #1 portrait with diffused background. I like how it shows how camouflaged it is - just a natural extension of the tree trunk!
Thanks, Ed. They are indeed masters of camouflage. The light was failing because of an incoming snowstorm and if I happened to take my eye off the viewfinder, then it was not easy to spot the owl on the tree with the naked eye.

Terrific photographs! Thanks for the background on how you got them. IMO it was worth the effort to get these great images.

Dave, thanks for the nice comments. It was totally worth the 3 hour drive from my home in Minneapolis to the bog at 4am in the morning and the 4 hour drive back in the snowstorm.

Terrific images, and really admire your determination. Glad you waited around all that time.
Thanks, Fred. I have to admit that there was point in time when I was very disappointed with the ways things were going and there was fleeting thought of going back early. But I am glad I fought through that.

Nice shots Amit
thanks for the update, I was thinking of taking a trip back there this weekend or next but not anymore, with all the warm weather the roads must be turning into mud pits
Thanks, Brian. Yeah, I think the owls will soon be disappearing from the roads and the roads themselves might become too muddy.
Oh well, I can hardly wait for November when they will return.
I was up there a few weeks ago. Got down to -26. I only saw one Great Gray and he/she never moved. Your pictures are so very special. Thanks for taking the time to share. I can't wait to go back next winter.

Thanks, Daniel. But -26...that's brutally cold. Fingertips start to freeze even with heated gloves in that temp. Hope you come again next winter and we run into each other.
