p.1 #1 · Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge

At the Laws Railroad Museum near Bishop, CA. This engine #18 was on static display in a park for 64 years and just completed a restoration to running condition for it's first run in that long. Grown men were seen crying. I was one of them.

I was born and grew up in the final 25 years of steam RRs.
Got friendly with train people on occasion and had several great times and hours in the cabs of working switch engines around my high school years.

My take: Railroads come right after the horse in enabling civilization and technology on the planet!!

Thanks 'big' for posting this superb reminder of the Steam Era!

Great set. As others, I love old trains, especially steamers.
