I had the original 28-75 for my canon 5d years ago and it was a killer sharp lens...a little slow in focus, but quite accurate...only reason i don't still use it...I dropped it...they are not built like a tank...its was in pieces. But still it was a fairly cheap lens that had really good chops. I would jump all over this one if it is as good and cheap too.

That picture is definitely of an E-mount lens based on the taper at the base. Plus they’ve moved on to the 24-70 2.8 VC on the slr’s, I imagine his lens was chosen for FE mount due to being slightly more compact

From the post above, according to Tamron's definitions, "Di III" shown in the photo is a code for mirrorless lenses. Probably doesn't say FE, as they either know, or are banking on releasing it for Nikon and Canon mirrorless mounts as well.

I've seen another site say the same. I just can't find it on fb right now.

Indeed. "Di III" is the same designation on the Tamron 18-200mm for E mount.

This could be a great lens, and personally I'd like to see it as a trio with short ratio wides and teles, even if it bucks the traditional zoom lengths. Something like an 18-28 and 75-150, prioritizing IQ and smaller packages over normal ranges.

1000-1200 max

Make it under 1500 like their lenses for Nikon and Canon and it will sell like wildfire. The Sony's pro zooms are so expensive that people will flock to alternatives. Beat Sigma to the punch Tamron, that's what you need to do.
Also love that this goes longer to 75, always need the longer end rather than the wide.

Looks great. It will be considerably smaller/lighter. A walk around zoom is good to have on occasion, but I see no reason spending $1,300 for the Sony and it is larger than I prefer. Don't forget that Tamron designed the Batis 25 and 85 (among others) for Sony FE.
28mm is fine with me. I don't like the "dirty corners" the Sony has at 24mm anyway.

A very important lens, and we wait on Sigma's similar move. It's a wide open field that needs filling, Sony's lenses are but a thin and very patchy throw of fertilizer over the critical central focal lengths. You can't service all users with Sony's offerings, even in the narrow case of mid-zooms. C/N have to compete with T/S so it's high time healthy competition came to FE.
