So this last weekend I was exploring Death Valley, looking for some new shots of dunes. But, Mesquite dunes are completely "shredded", and I mean there are steps ALL OVER! I went like a mile in from a completely different side of dunes with hopes to find something clean but, nope, all I found were millions of steps all over, again. When are those winds going to blow there to clean/sweep all that destruction?
I took a lot of shots but most of them heavily zoomed in to just a small, specific part of dunes trying to avoid getting those steps in. I still had to use the content aware tool to clean small parts from steps here and there, but it was manageable. They were all taken at different times of sunrise, so colors changed rapidly. And, I was shooting with and against the sun. That also made dune look different (colorwise).
The first shot was taken at the mud crack location near the Furnace Creek.

Beautiful images. The first one for me.
So you WALK into the dunes and complain about the footsteps?

Yeah!!! Why not! If you go to another dunes (and this is what I should do) you won't have any. Ibex, or Eureka are two examples of dunes you won't find many steps, if at all. Yeap, next weekend I'm off to Eureka dunes instead. Or better yet, I'll fly to Morocco for some Sahara dune shots. Do they have steps too?

If you walk around long enough, lots of your own. Might tick off the photographer behind you. ;-)
There's a ton of snow there at the moment, I've heard.
Love the second to last image here. The color palette is beautiful and calming, and every single line within the composition makes sense and enters / exits the frame perfectly. Awesome!

One of the best are actually in Libya or Algeria, I've heard. But, those two countries are so unstable politically I would not really go there now, specially Libya. Unless I'd know someone in Algeria that would guide me I would not go there either. But, there are some amazing dunes formations, and with incredible pinnacles as well (very southern part of the country, I already researched that )
Mojave National Preserve has some awesome pinnacles to which I'm off to next weekend. Who's with me
Ah, Namibia. I almost went there last year. I'm sure there are places I'd enjoy shooting but somehow I always see the same shots from Namibia, specifically from Deadvlei. It's a nice place, no doubt about that, and I think it'd look great at night but I wonder if there's anything else. I guess I have to go and see
