This year the winter has been extreme in New York. Last weekend was surprisingly pleasant cool, and we decided to wake up from photography hibernation.
Both pictures are taken in natural light hour before sunset.
Very nice portraits. I like her pose and how you fit it into the frame in the first. Excellent colors and detail, too. I wish she seemed more lifted by the natural environment. I might have had her gaze at the branch thus removing some self-consciousness and maybe giving us more of a sense of her sensitivity.

I ask this because I've seen it in my pics from time to time. On the second pic her face looks soft, almost oof, yet her blouse ,which would have been on the same plane, looks very sharp. Is this just me or does anyone else notice this? And if it is the case, Why?
Good question!
Yes its soft, but I was reluctant to throw it away.
Im using a manual lens at f/1.4. A breath here and there, or a minor movement from the subject would result in missing focus.
I wish Nikon comes up with focus peaking concept like Sony bodies.
Thanks!
