Wow, Lisa! SO BEAUTIFUL. No where to begin. And so inspiring. I didn't take nearly as many photos and I see that I need to GET ON THE BALL! Your variety is just amazing. So great to see the different landscapes, too, with all the Montana shots. A treasure-trove of personal memories and gorgeous keepsakes for your clients. What a great year. I can't wait to see what you do in '18! <3

Magnificent year? Magnificent life! Lisa "Consistent" Holloway, fer shur. Your style is dialed in. You've been blessed with many built-in models :-) My dream is to have such a portfolio some day. To paraphrase my favorite bumper snicker, "God put me on this Earth to make a certain number of photographs; I'm so far behind I may never die."

Simply amazing and consistently amazing. Watching your editing videos remains a definite goal of mine in the wedding offseason!

While I have no desire to copycat the editing style which is distinctly yours, I am very certain that I will learn to improve my own aesthetic in the process of seeing yours.

These bring lots of smiles Lisa, a certain type of inner peace too. You really capture great qualities in your subjects. The nice inclusion of color and elements of softness surrounding the subjects adds another dimensional quality to the images.............all in harmony

I must say that little gal in the diner setting is an absolute doll!
My best to you in 2018

Simply fantastic. I kept wanting to click on them to make them bigger.
And something that struck me as I scrolled through is your treatment of the eyes. So clear and beautiful. I kept thinking about that slogan about the eyes being the window to the soul.
Thank you for sharing all those amazing shots with us.

Each one a classic that tells a story. Every one is a joy to view. That is the mark of the 'Holloway' style.
BTW: You've been busy! Can't wait to see what 2018 presents for you to capture, Lisa.

You are not alone. I respect her work, but have felt that the eyes just have an unnatural look to them.

Perhaps softening everything *except* the eyes makes them look odd.

I used to do something very similar... once I changed my processing technique a bit, the results were much more natural.

Anyway, otherwise a fine set and I am sure the clients are quite pleased.

You guys are pretty funny, daft, cute, whatever. You should be appreciative of having Lisa in here, potentially learning from her, having the ability to have complete access to one of the most successful portrait photographers in the country. And instead, you're stupidly driving her away from this forum. Yay! Congrats! You guys win!

Wow, what a victory! I mean, you guys should throw a party or something.

Geesh, you guys are unbelievable. I'm pretty sure after today's stupidity, you can put away the popcorn and kiss your opportunity to learn from one of the best in the country goodby. She has clients that come from all over the country to do a shoot with her. She's paid to go to them. Seriously, there's no one else in FM that I'm aware of that gets these kinds of gigs. And you had complete access to her.

I'm really blown away. She doesn't mess with Sylvie's eyes. She has naturally big bright blue eyes and when she's in good light, her eyes are bright. That's it. So why mess with her over it? You really think she should dull her own child's eyes? Have you ever seen her other children's eyes that bright? No. Because the others are not that bright.

Well, I think you did it. I hope you're happy. Throw a party, but don't invite me.

My friend Ron said pretty much everything that is on my mind. Lisa is simply an incredible talent, incredible mom/wife, and a wonderful lady. I not feeling like any of the comments would add an ounce of value to her superb work, just my opinion. Really love all of them Lisa. Thanks for your wonderful contributions to this forum.

"Learning from her"? lol...I've never seen her give up anything that I can recall. 10 people will praise her work and 2 will ask about her technique or advice. She kindly says "thank you" to all the praise and ignores the calls for learning.

Nobody will drive Lisa away for one of two reasons...What she calls "sharing" is strategic marketing. I think she continues to "share" on here and PoTN to gain tutorial business, but that's just my assumption. Part of me thinks she craves the attention too. In my opinion she's wasting her valuable time "sharing" on internet forums if she's not doing it to gain potential tutorial business. I doubt she's getting portrait work from posting on the forums. My guess that's IG and FB land. She doesn't take kindly to people's constructive criticism nor does she offer any advice, so again...why does she continue to post? Granted, I don't stalk her, so perhaps I've missed those "learning" posts of her's. My impression of Lisa on the various forums is that of "thank yous" and rage.

I have seen her give nice comments to other peoples work too, but I'm talking about the sharing threads she starts.

Many times people will offer some nitpick improvement for her, and she replies with a GTFO attitude. I mean...how dare anyone give LJH advice. Do you think I'm the only one that has this sentiment? Far from it. I don't know her, never met her, and never had an E-conversation with her. I have not said anything derogatory, just opinions based on her posts the bast 6+ years since I have recognized her work. She can be abrasive on the forums, I have no issue with that.

With all that said, I think she's the best "non candid" family photographer that I have ever saw. Her light recognition, comps, clothing coordination, and PP are all top notch.

My "popcorn" comment is justified. She has flamed people many times for the work or lack thereof she does to peoples eyes.

Well, you don't have to worry about it, Ryan. She's not going to "flame" anyone here anymore. She shares on these forums for a number of reasons, and one of them, to be certain, is to sell her tutorials for her business. But she has always enjoyed networking with other photographers and being a part of a community. Yeah, she doesn't take crits well when they're not done respectfully. I mean, how many times does she have to explain that Sylvie's eyes are naturally bright.

As for learning from her, I've seen her share her techniques when asked specific questions. But if you were to ask her how she edits a picture... well, her video tutorials are up to an hour long. She's supposed to explain all that in two sentences on a forum?

But you can also learn by studying her work every time she posts.

I just don't think you guys have gained anything by finally running her out of here. Wouldn't you want to learn from someone who averages five figures per portrait session and several times a year makes more off one session than probably 95% of the people in here make all year? I would. Some people have called me a fanboy of hers, which is ridiculous. I'm a friend of hers, and have been since we both started out together about eight years ago.

Does she have an attitude when she's rubbed the wrong way? Oh, yeah. I think she should have added to all of her posts that she's not looking for a critique. She's found her style, and it evolves naturally for her.

Again, enjoy your popcorn and you are right, your comment was justified. But I honestly don't think she's going to be back at FM. So you guys have won, congrats! Have a party, eat lots of popcorn.

Dave, appreciate your comment!

Well...I was not trying to win anything. If my popcorn comment, and the 2 others that were posted, contribute to her not ever posting again, I won't lose sleep.

I appreciate her work, but I won't miss it. For the most part, I stopped shooting people a couple years ago. Once in a while someone I know asks me to shoot them, and at times, I will, but I'm a non people shooter now.

Well, while you won't miss her work, the majority of people on this board, and most boards really appreciate her work, and it will be missed. I mean, she's won the Featured Thread of the Week 66 times, and the next person has won it 20-some times, so I think her work is appreciated by a few people here.

What's sad is that there's just a small group here in FM who has given her a hard time and probably gotten some kind of perverted cheap thrill out of it. I'm not putting you in that group, Ryan, but your comment did contribute to the drama effect. It's just not worth her time to share things here and then get told how botched some of her editing is when... well, she's pretty successful with this editing. And the bit about Sylvie's eyes is just dumb, they're just big and bright, especially when she's placed in good light, which a really good photographer like LIsa does.

It's no big deal. FM People is as dead as a doornail. Is it any wonder why so many photographers, both beginners and talented pros, have left this board?
