Actually...I think this board is quite tame. Photography forums, and forums in general, are a dying technology. IG is king for photo sharing, and FB Groups have taken over the "forum" niche.
You guys are pretty funny, daft, cute, whatever. You should be appreciative of having Lisa in here, potentially learning from her, having the ability to have complete access to one of the most successful portrait photographers in the country. And instead, you're stupidly driving her away from this forum. Yay! Congrats! You guys win!
Wow, what a victory! I mean, you guys should throw a party or something.
Geesh, you guys are unbelievable. I'm pretty sure after today's stupidity, you can put away the popcorn and kiss your opportunity to learn from one of the best in the country goodby. She has clients that come from all over the country to do a shoot with her. She's paid to go to them. Seriously, there's no one else in FM that I'm aware of that gets these kinds of gigs. And you had complete access to her.
I'm really blown away. She doesn't mess with Sylvie's eyes. She has naturally big bright blue eyes and when she's in good light, her eyes are bright. That's it. So why mess with her over it? You really think she should dull her own child's eyes? Have you ever seen her other children's eyes that bright? No. Because the others are not that bright.
Well, I think you did it. I hope you're happy. Throw a party, but don't invite me....Show more →
I think it's extremely unrealistic to post 60 or so (didn't bother to count) photographs on a photography forum and not expect to get a comment. You do realize you're saying it's okay to say only nice things and praise the photos but under no circumstances should anyone say anything derogatory ? And if the mild comments above sets someone off , well, that's just childish. Have you stopped to consider that some of us may find these photos a bit contrived and not particularly unique ? Are we not allowed to have an opinion ? It's very easy to just ignore someone you don't agree with. I understand the photographer is a friend of yours and you value her excellent work. But if you took a peek outside the tiny FM Forum bubble. You'd find there are plenty of other portrait photographers producing excellent work of their own.
Lisa, there's a lot of stunning work on there to be sure. While I've not always agreed with your social and political views, I love your photography and routinely draw inspiration from it. I hope you'll continue to contribute.

What's sad is that there's just a small group here in FM who has given her a hard time and probably gotten some kind of perverted cheap thrill out of it. I'm not putting you in that group, Ryan, but your comment did contribute to the drama effect. It's just not worth her time to share things here and then get told how botched some of her editing is when... well, she's pretty successful with this editing. And the bit about Sylvie's eyes is just dumb, they're just big and bright, especially when she's placed in good light, which a really good photographer like LIsa does.
It's no big deal. FM People is as dead as a doornail. Is it any wonder why so many photographers, both beginners and talented pros, have left this board? ...Show more →
Ron, you might consider trying to solve the problem you claim to observe ("so many photographers ... have left this board") by continuing to serve as a source of inspiration rather than drama. You are certainly very capable of it. But your comments here (and in the past on these subjects) often ignore the fact that many of the controversies that have come up surrounding threads concerning Lisa and others are usually not driven by a "perverted cheap thrill." There have been genuine disagreements that occur on every forum, and Lisa has been the subject of a fair number of such online raging. And as I recall, she can give as well as she gets. But I don't think this community has been all that unfair to her, particularly given some of the incendiary statements she's occasionally made. She's made "featured thread" 66 times and has quite a few fanboys such as yourself to back her up whenever the cheap perversions of critics creep through the reams and reams of (well-deserved) praise.
That said, if she is gone, I will definitely miss her. Seeing her work has improved mine to be sure and I also don't mind the occasional challenge to my beliefs and personal orthodoxies that Lisa occasionally posed.
But I won't miss the kind of slavish advocacy that I see on display here.

excellent! the ones with golden glows and vibrant backdrops outstanding!
one preference nit I have is some of the eye pops look alien *to me* , maybe soften or tone down the selective sharpening to appear more natural. just a thought
I think the response to your suggestion is wildly out of proportion. You expressed an opinion and clearly marked it as your opinion. You offered your opinion respectfully. Whether or not others, including the OP agree, your opinion should be received with the same respectful manner it was offered.
