In all honesty it has been a slow year for me, I have not got out as much as I would have liked to (Little Lazy) but I did manage to get off the couch and get a few images :-)
#1 Now that deserves to be at the top! Fantastic feel, uplifting, gorgeous BG!
#2 Cute
#3 What a great pose from the small Chickadee so it could be strong enough to overcome the perch it was on.
#4 Bold, not overdone, almost like a powerful silhouette but with detail, I like it.
#5 You still won't make any farmers happy but what a fantastic display on the coloring and patterning, nice!
#6 Love the soft BG light, love the smoothness overall and my gosh that GBH really gave you the pose!
#7 Nice BG color for the warm tones to stand off of, nice light and draw to the eye.
#8 Very cool that you have the tiny one on the left with a look to the right to anchor that end of the log, this would make for excellent wall art Chris, lots to like here buddy.
#9 Grace and power, great low perspective, nice glow on the reflection for extra dynamics and foreground fill.
#10 Only because it's you that this comp works Sweet!
#11 Nice light, nice open comp, wish for a bit better head angle on this one....nit
#12 When done well these are a standout............This is a standout
#13 Thanks for pushing my imagination and realization how these 'against the grain' comps can work so very well!
#14 To me it looks a bit soft at the eye.....
What a visual treat in color and BG Chris, what a treat to motion and stillness, what an exercise in and lesson in compositional extremes............All is good, hope your 2018 offers you more
Karl
Ummm.. if these are your results from a "slow, lazy" year, then you really need to get out more. Really, really need to get out more ! Stunning images, every one of them.
Excellent, no, outstanding images, Chris! I believe you will better off to stay put as far as the gear concerned until something major happens on the other camp.
I like them all but I particularly like the last one in the first group and the last one in the second group. Excellent composition in both cases, and an unusual composition with the cormorant looking out of the frame.

This is a super set Chris. My only (minor) nit is that I think brightening the goose (only) a bit might improve an already very nice shot ~ Ron
