Can I just ask a quick question here? Okay, two, coz that was one...if you are a back-button focuser, does the eye-AF focus follow work?
If I understand what you are asking, the answer is yes with any Eye-AF equipped Sony. Just set the AF w/shutter to off and assign eye-af to a button (center of d-pad, for example).
I am very impressed with the III. Really is a superb camera.
It must also have a stealth mode. With my work I have the camera buckled to my shoulder straps of a small backpack. For the last few days I now have the II and III, one on each. My wife, hasn't even noticed that I have been carrying 2 cameras. lol

I got the FTP function working a couple days ago. It's pretty cool to upload images to my FTP server from anywhere.
Any pointers based upon your FTP setup efforts?
Thanks Fred...all of these posts have me thinking of keeping my A7Rii and picking up an A9. FTP(s) is perfect for displaying fast burst in short order. If only it had USB 3.
I think I said it before, but I'm really loving the responsiveness of reviewing files.
Writing and getting to 100% view to check focus is fantastically fast - the way it should have been on the A7R and RII right from the get go.
Also digging the fully electronic shutter. The new mechanical shutter is also much nicer in operation.

What is the difference between DXO Photolab and DXO OpticsPro 11?
Photolab is OpticsPro with localised adjustments including Nik's patented U-point technology. Yes you can now use a brush tool or gradient and paint in local corrections, and edit mask at any time or use a U-point. It works very nicely. I can now get output same as LR, but Photolab has better lens profiles and corrections. They could still make some improvements to the local adjustments, some things need to be added to adjustments, but overall very nice.

What?! I use exposure compensation all the time. The dedicated dial and ability to see EC at a glance is a huge bonus over my old Canon. Who needs a drive dial?
Huh, you can see at glance on your Canon, it's right there in the VF.
There is so much to like about the A7R III but one feature that I don't think has been mentioned in this thread is the ability to record geolocation information. It takes a bit of fussing around but, once the Bluetooth connection was established with the PlayMemories app, it's worked reliably with my iPhone. This screenshot shows Photo Mechanic's Map View.

I think he's talking about the effect of EC on the image, not some icon in the viewfinder informing you about the EC setting.
I too love the immediate view of the EC setting on the image. Just look through the viewfinder and adjust EC until you like what you see...much less guessing.
As i shoot with R3, i realise i have been wanting a full frame camera so badly. I wanted my images to look like 1999 when i shot with FM3a for a while. So glad that the look is back.
Been playing with the Camera whole day

I was referring to the markings on the physical dial... it’s great to be able to see what EC is set to when I pick up the camera even before I turn it on as it’s often in the wrong place from the night before . But you’re absolutely right that the WYSIWYG view is a tremendous advantage.
Thanks for posting that. I'm keeping an eye on the A7R 3 for use with adapter and Canon long glass... 400 DO ll, 500 F 4 ll. I'm hoping someone will test those and provide a review. :-)
Used the 85/1.8 last night and the focus speed over the R2 is significantly improved. The AF experience is much improved. Lots of subtle, but very nice changes with the R3 over the R2.
