I have been busy lattely and not complaining at all!

We recently visited the Central and South Pacific of Costa Rica with a goal in mind, finding sloths and monkeys!

We of course found more than just that but sloths were the stars of the show!

Here I am sharing some of my favorite images from the trip. Thanks for looking and for your comments.

All images taken with Canon 5DIV and my trusty Canon 600f/4 which by the way is for sell!

What is more cute than a female sloth? a baby sloth!!!

No, this sloth is not praying! ha ha ha those insects that live among it fur are a nuisance

Sloth feeding on Cecropia leaves, one of the over 200 species of leaves they feed on

A sloth in sloth heaven!

The black stripe on this sloth´s back is a good marker of this one being a male

Awesome shots Juan. The only sloths I got to see in CR were at the rehab center. I know the wild sloths have that green stuff on their fur (where as the captive ones didn't). Do you know what the green stuff is? Is it just some sort of algae?

Thanks for your comment Geoff, yes indeed, the most common algea living on sloth´s fur is Trichophilus welckeri, (among others) apparently only found on sloths so it suggest a true co-evolutionary relationship and it´s acquired by the sloth at very early stages of its life.

Beautiful set! Hard to find them but they do give the photographer some time to adjust the settings

My favourite is #2.

Juan, impressive images! I love the one with the baby sloth but the others showing the face are just gorgeous, especially No. 3 of the sloth hanging upside down.
