Over the weekend, I finally finished edits of favorites from my recent trip. My goal was to focus on people and everyday life more than the typical tourist images of shiny cars against decaying buildings (although I have a few of those too).
Here are a few representative images. It was a great experience and gave me true appreciation for how much we're blessed in the US.
Excellent! Well seen and captured. When I went to Cuba last January, I took the usual tourist pictures of old cars, dilapidated buildings, and street art. I wish I had focused on the people.

Thank you for bringing me back those amazing memories.(21 years since I left)
Glad to. I found the Cubans to be a wonderfully warm and welcoming people. As Americans, we could easily be perceived as having treated them unjustly for years, but I never received anything but a smile and kind words. They truly do make the best of what they have, and I can only wish a more free and open government for them in the future. I wish Trump wasn't shutting the door so abruptly as improving relations with the U.S. may have ultimately led to reforms and a bit more prosperity.
Thanks also to others who offered kind comments. It's a trip I will never forget.

Great set Doug. Ya might want to add also..."and how much we could lose" to your opening statement.
Douglas
Completely agree Douglas. Today is one for counting our blessings, and we have many. Among mine are a wife of 30 years who tolerates my expensive photography hobby and lets me go on some great adventures, and two grown children who finally closed their withdrawal accounts with the Bank of Dad. Add to that an 18 month old grandson to spend a few bucks on and a good job that pays for it all.
Takes me back, I’ve been twice. And you’ve captured really nice images and light. My one criticism would be that your tendency to center your subject makes some of the images too static for my taste. Maybe just some selective editing. For instance, the boxer and man reading. The little boy near the end, as a counter example, is really nicely composed and framed. It’s my favorite.
Beautiful series, I like them all but had I to pick one I'd go for #7, that image says a lot without any need for a description, that's when a photograph works in my opinion.
