Did not write down the SN but bought mine in late January and it had the bug and returned it. Wonder if it is later one's that are showing the issue or its still hit or miss with those too. Sure would love Sony to address it so I could order another or at least find out it was or is just a bad batch.
Well looking at the numbers I’m seeing both good and bad in 181xxxx and 180xxxx. I’ll look mine up as it’s good and I just bought it a couple weeks ago.
I have both the 24-105 AND THE 24-70 . I did quite a lot of comparisons and test shots with them both when I got the 24-105. I was not disappointed. The 24-70's week spot is in the corners - and it cleanups slightly as you stop down, but never anywhere as good as the 24-105. There is still a bit of smearing with the 24-105 wide open in the corners on test images - part of this may be currved focal plane, but it really cleans up quick as you stop down. Ive had the best that Canon had to offer including several 24-70 2.8's - this beats them for overall sharpness.
I may have missed one but it seems that everyone that is reporting bad copies start with 181XXXX and those with 180XXXX so far have been good.
Edit. Just jotted them down on a spreadsheet and 100% of the 180 are ok and it's 50/50 with 181

This looks promising although not enough results to draw a conclusion yet. But maybe there was some type of a manufacturing problem starting with the s/n 181xxxx production run? Keep posting the s/n’s and results. Sony are you watching?
