Worked on reproducing the George Hurrell style with some students from the local makeup school and some amateur models.
I used Arri hot lights and a lot of GOBOs and other old school tricks I've read or been told about (i.e. - using vaseline on a clear filter for blurring)
Looks like a lot of hair and makeup work too.
I'm not fond of the lighting on the eyes in #2 and #3 also has a little eye shading, but still is a fine shot.
I can't comment on whether your result is similar to that of George's, but it does look very old Hollywood style.
The last two are my favorites. This is as close to emulating Hurrell as any attempts I've seen. You did a fantastic job!
I've tried to emulate the style back in the film days and it is a lot harder than it looks. Brent was so successful because he used the appropriate lighting equipment, especially for the key light. There's just no way to reproduce the look without using cine lights, just like George did originally.
You mention 'attempting'.............I would say exceeded and successful
These are truly enjoyable to view Brent, refreshing and timeless and stunning B&W presentation. Each has its own feel to it, #2 is bit eerie to me I have gone back and looked at them a half dozen times, that is good thing!
