Number 4 is closest. Hurrell didn't shoot the lit face quite as hot as the rest, at least what I am seeing on my monitor, might want to pull those back a bit. Also, consider incorporating some classic features of the genre, a slash of light on the background and razor sharp eyelash shadows. I too use 5 arris and have the arri burned fingers to prove it. Fresnels can also produce razor sharp super hard edged shadows on the bg another possibility when moving subject closer to the bg. For soft focus, I crank the dc ring on a Nikon 135 2.0 dc past the aperture setting. Also, sometimes use a softar filter I also use some mf film lenses that incorporate softening filters.
After scrolling through the first 3 photos, my only thought was "nailed it". The first responder beat me to the punch Lovely job !! #4 is especially gorgeous.
Very well done- especially using hot lights. The make-up, hair, and styling all great and keeping with the asthetic of the 30s and 40s. Curious, have you ever tried the same style with strobes, and/or LED or Flourescents? BTW, when does your book come out?
amazing light...but, sorry, you killed it by soft blur. Can I see photos with a sharpness on the eyes? Plz. It's a big potential to this photos, but not retouching. Sorry for my opinion.
