OMG the m-mount version is a true thing of beauty! It's so small! Height is very close to the Zeiss ZM 50mm 1.5 Sonnar and girth is not much larger. I'll post pics soon
I tried to reduce the (for this lens) very typical punch in the darks. Quite challenging...
Very remarkable separation of figures in that second shot. A very lovely and interesting image--the kind of pic you can look at for a while and that keeps your eye busy.

I'm very interested in how you think it performs, I wonder if there are any IQ differences with the E mount version even though they look pretty much exactly the same in lens design...
On another note, now more than ever I really wish Voigtlander would make a 28mm f1.4 or even 1.8, Leica's lens is just unjustifiable to me right now.
Wouldn't the M mount version be more future-proof? It can be adapted to all mirrorless systems including those FF ones under development at Nikon and Canon.
Voightlander has the 28/2 Ultron that many people like, and performs well on the A7. Seems like it should be close enough to a 28/1.8 that you mentioned.
I don't think Cosina had ever made a really fast lens that wasn't normalish (35-60).
Rokinon makes fast full frame wides, but too bad they are huge.

Yes, the CV 28/2 performs very well from center to corner on the A7 sensor stack even without front convex lenses. The only issue I found is a moderate mid-field resolution dip. (I've tried 3 copies and they performed very similarly)

+1 but if you do use a PCX 5000 it does help it some.

Do you still have the ZM 50 mm 1.5 C Sonnar?
Do you plan to keep both? I am really interested in seeing how this works out for you.
I have both the Zeiss ZM 35 1.4 and the 50 mm 1.5 C Sonnar and love them.
That’s probably the only reason I would not get the 40 1.2.

The older 28mm 1.9 did well on the A7 I had, and some tests seem to think it does better than the f/2 version at, for instance, focus shift, I certainly found no problems. It has always been very useful too on aps-c camera I own, on nex 6 and Fuji, as a general purpose wide angle.
I bought it nearly 15 years ago to use on Leica Ms, Erwin Puts said it was better than any of the pre aspheric Leica 28s

Can you confirm if the aperture blades are straight or curved?
