Can the finish on these be that fragile or could the silver cordura lining in the bag have rubbed off on it? Do I need to cover the lens while transporting in the bag? I’m totally stoked to get it, but this is a little frustrating.
I got my CV40 in 2019 and it's absolutely covered in scuffs like that. Just seems to be part of the game with this lens.
For me it's a lens I'll probably take to the grave with me, but if you plan on reselling the lens it might be an issue.

Ok, after seeing half the images in this thread of the spectacular rendering from this lens I decided I had to add yet another manual focus lens to my kit. Since I had an assignment from the summer that paid for it I bought it new from Cameraqest. The only concern I have with it is the finish. I’ve had it for 3 days in my small ThinkTank Speed Demon and taking it out this morning I see what looks like paint wear on the edge of the hood. Can the finish on these be that fragile or could the silver cordura lining in the bag have rubbed off on it? Do I need to cover the lens while transporting in the bag?

Perhaps the hood is made from a lighter alloy, so Type I anodizing was used, while the barrel (subject to more wear) received the more durable Type II anodizing.
Hi, new to the forum here, I feel this thread is a good start to contribute since it's what made me buy this fantastic lens
I've spent 10 days in Ireland during August, with this lens only. It's been a spectacular journey and I've enjoyed shooting with the Nokton a lot (SE version for me). I had some doubts about missing shots and feeling limited. While it definitely happened, I feel it's well worth it to be able to gain on the shooting experience side.

Hey ya’ll,
How can you tell if you have a good copy of this lens?
Besides centering are there other factors? If so, how does one check for them?
Thanks,
JayT
Mostly by whether you like the images that come out of it.

I do like what Im seeing so far, not having spent much time getting familiar with it yet. I just wonder why some people have said “finally got what I consider a good copy of this lens”. It doesn’t seem like there would be much sample variation with Voigtlander lenses in general. Could some have say slightly better bokeh than others?

I get what you mean, but I guess what I was trying to say is that if you like what you're seeing I wouldn't go looking for problems.
Here’s a few from the A7CR. I seldom buy brand new. I was trying to wait and find a used copy, but Cameraquest had a decent sale price on the new E-mount version. Don’t think I’ll have any regrets.
