We have precious few members who delight others by posting their excellent work, as seen in this great thread. Negative feedback (especially if totally unwarranted, as here) actually changes behaviour. I rarely revisit my images at FM due to this kind of ill will.

Photography is an art form that stops the world for an instant, for later reflection - so far from being a mere narrative. Beauty is central to cultural tradition, an absolute necessity for the soul. The ability to experience and record it and share it with others lies at the very the core of human creativity in the visual arts.

A 2.23 YT video from Roger Scruton, titled: 'Roger Scruton: Reclaiming Beauty' might help in this regard.

Thank you very much Steve, Helena, Phillip and others, I know I should not have reacted as I did, but the comment really got up my nose, Cheers Ray.

Here are some shots from a recent walk on the beach.

After falling head over heels for the CV21 3.5 last year, I finally made the jump to pick up the 40 as a birthday gift for myself.

Just finished up one of my first combination mountain bike / photo wander days with the new toy, and I must say, I do love the feel of this lens

I definitely need to get a better hang on keeping an eye on the shutter speeds and choosing deeper apertures at times though!

Haven't posted here in a while, but I had my pre-school gig yesterday. Awful, miserable overcast weather, so I brought my fastest lens and kept my fingers crossed.

From the other day, when I had a vehicle safety inspection "appointment" of my 23yr old "Skodillac" and had time to kill and warm up the engine before the place opened for bussines. So I drove about 10km out of town to these vineyards above the highway that I had eyed for a long time. I liked the way the higher layers of clouds lit up for a few minutes, but unfortunatelly the sun didn`t make it`s way through clouds to get some light on the ground to get a bit of light&shadows in them terraced vineyards... Maybe next time...

Two shot panorama...

Love the shots of the kids too. The last one of the little girl in the green flowered raincoat is really great.

I'm way late in even looking at this lens. I've had a couple of years of zero gear lust -- just using the lenses I have. How weird is that? But last summer I converted an a7rii to infrared. I was pleasantly surprised how many of the lenses I generally carry work very well -- except my dear CV 35 1.7. I've searched this thread and there was one oblique mention of infrared for this 40 1.2, but nothing specific. Also not finding it in other searches and sources. So, wondering if there is any experience? Wondering about kicking the 35 1.7 out of the bag for something, maybe this?

I got a replacement copy of CV40 and ran a quick centering test, I am not sure what to think. The F/1.2 results do not bother me as much, but I can't help feel a bit annoyed by the soft top left corner at F/5.6. How do the samples below align with the general copy variance here at FM?

If these were taken with the IBIS off I would probably return the lens again. I do believe that many on this website are too nitpicky about decentering, but this looks bad enough to affect resale value & show up in smaller prints as an obvious problem.
