Went back and forth for a while about purchasing this lens but finally did it to replace the Zony 55 1.8 as my general purpose lens. I havent shot manual for general shooting in a long time so definitely need more practice. Heres a few of my first shots outdoors...nothing special but I do love the way it renders.

Very nice. Don't forget to turn off EFCS when your shutter speeds go above 1/1000s. That goes for all lenses, but it's especially easy when you're shooting f1.2

I recommend a CPL for walk-around shooting with this lens also if you want to shoot wide open or close to it.

So I got my third one . I had the CV 50 for a bit also. But this copy I tested this morning just for resolution only seems better than my previous ones. So letting go of the CV 50 feels less painful.

Just to give you all a idea. Its perfect across the frame at F4.

I picked up a Breakthrough X2. My first product from them, I had typically bought B+W or Hoya, but I've seen a lot of good mentions of Breakthrough lately. Seems like it has excellent coatings to reduce flare.

Also curious as to your impression of the resolution with CV40 on the R4?

Thanks for the testing you do

Outside the usual benefits of a CPL why do you recommend using one for this lens? Would a CPL help reduce CA when shooting wide open?

I don't think there are optical benefits, it's just the 2-2.5 stops of light reduction that are beneficial in daytime/walk-around shooting. Both to keep from bumping up against 1/8000s max and just generally to keep shutter speeds lower in case you forget to turn off EFCS (like I do frequently).

2.5 stops of light reduction with CPL? I thought it was close to a atop. Less than that.
