So far its growing on me fast. I even like the crazy bokeh
More coming basically just walked in the door from NY but I love shooting it. That part is just fabulous and honestly I love having the Exif data. Its just easier on me when I do tests and post images. Plus I know what I did.
I love the crazy bokeh; that's why I bought my review sample! I've had more FUN with this lens than many technically better ones!

This quote from Cosina that Juha posted:
"This lens shares the same optical configuration as the NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical E-mount lens, however the NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical VM is optically adjusted with consideration for use on both film and digital "
Suggests the M mount versions optically adjusted for film/thin sensor cover.
In which case it won't work as well on E mount. Quite apart from EXIF etc.
Which would lead you into front filter solutions. Which are only 50mm. Cutting it close on a 52mm thread. we have had success with 46/49mm but I can't recall 52mm being used by anyone. Unless i missed that
Ah that's too bad! I'll wait for a direct comparison but the M version would interest me more. Not that I have the TAP but could be a nice addition in the future. For MF experience I actually prefer the M and used an adapter.

Im down to two lenses without EXIF and love to get to One if I could. Im going to miss that CV 35 1.7 though its a laser on center
what do you guys use EXIF for out of curiousity? applying preset corrections?
i don't have it for any lens, but i don't think i'd do anything with it if i had it.

As soon as I read 52mm I decided to go FE mount
But also the field curvature is the wrong direction for front filters that are readily available, I think.

I use it for a couple of things. First, my posting here putting the lens and data into the frame of the image I’m posting. However, I also use it for searching my library. When I need to find some images taken with a certain lens, it’s easy to search using the lens data.

Searching my database for images taken with certain lenses/apertures
Easy export of details into footers using LR mogrify
applying profiles (but I usually do that manually)
General slightly obsessive tracking of what image was taken with what; I like to know and I have too many bits of glass so after year or so I would have no idea.
It's not a deal breaker at all, though, coz I"m happy to add the info into EXIF with LensTagger..
Rather not play that game myself. One reason I like the A9 I don’t have to screw around with EFCS. I want to get away from all that. It just adds more technical stuff where you should be concentrating on shooting. That and im lazy and I like just keeping it simple.

It's very possible that Sony introduces an option that automatically disables EFCS at a selectable shutter speed to avoid weirdness in the OOF rendering. A non-native lens coupled with a 'dumb' adapter won't benefit from that.
Yes, it's not an issue with the A9 or A7RII electronic shutter. Let's see what happens with future cameras.

Yea I agree would be nice to see it switch off at 1/1000 automatically.

wait, why not? wouldn't the camera just do it based on shutter speed independent of lens?
