I have spent sometime with the nesting shorebirds and terns along the NY/NJ shoreline. Most of these were shot early morning with the exception of a few.
Raptor season is upon us... just posting a selection here. Hope you like
1. American Oystercatcher: New born chicks brood under the warmth of the parents for the first week after hatching. Was fortunate to watch this behavior in good light.
2. Sweet little common tern... waiting for the parent to feed
3. American Oystercatcher: Protecting the territory... flying around chasing the intruders away from chicks. An intruding oystercatcher can kill a chick and the mama/papa takes it seriously :).
4. American Oystercatcher: Past and present may be :)
6. Black skimmer: This year chicks were deep inside the protected fenced area. I decided to do something different in early morning light
7. Ruddy Turnstone: Get Cracking.... I watched this bird cracking the shell and get the worm inside
8. Piping Plover: again shooting in the opposite direction of light just to get some interesting lighting
9. Common terns: Adults vigorously attack alien chicks that wander into their territories, or approach their nests. Not sure if the chicks survived or not (sad) cruel world !!
10. Common Terns: As gentle as it get's with their own chicks :)
Fazian, you have beautifully captured some very wonderful interactions as well as some gorgeous shots of single subjects. The first and the last are outstanding . Love your low perspective and gorgeous background renderings. Fabulous set.
Beautiful set of images. I agree that the first and last are outstanding, and I also like the lighting of the piping plover chick. They are all excellent shots.
Absolutely outstanding, Faizan! Loved each of them, but the last is my all time favorite. Wonderful composition with shapes and lines, all supporting a terrific visual story.
