"Roxanne" was actually filmed in the town of Nelson, British Columbia, and the town's name was carried over to the movie. Nelson's volunteer fire department kindly gave its permission to use its fire station and fire fighting equipment in the making of the film. Steve Martin starred in the production with Daryl Hannah.
