p.1 #1 · First outdoor shoot w/ strobes (& a unicorn named Robin)
Congratulations to Drew23 for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 2 votes - View Previous Winners
Just recently moved up to WA from CA and now had the perfect excuse to get a powerpack - shoot in amazing scenery. Shot a few shots this past weekend and this one felt better than the other ones.
C&C welcome
Update: added the revised one and some behind the scenes

Beautiful work, only nit I have is placement of the horn on the horse. To me it looks like it should be lower, just above the eyes on the forehead.

this photo would be tremendous without the horn, very well done. The horn feels fake, doens't look real, and in my opinion isn't needed in what is already a fantastic capture.

@douter That not you mentioned is exactly the reason why I posted here so thank you. You’re absolutely right in the placement of the horn. I’ll make that adjustment.

@vcook@ @friscoron Thank you for the kind words! The concept of the shoot was supposed to be a fairy tale and my daughter loves unicorns so hence the unicorn but your critiques are actually on point. Maybe I didn’t sell it the fairy tale concept enough. Perhaps it needs to be more obvious that it’s a fairy tale piece. In addition, I will definitely play with a version that removes the horn to go for a general mystical concept. Thank you guys!

While I agree with the placement of the horn being lower, I'd say leave it. It was obvious you made it for your daughter, let her have her moment with the unicorn. What little girl doesn't love them. Great work. Love your layering effect.

This is simply outstanding. I agree with the placement of the horn, but I would like to see it kept. If anything else, making it look more, organic if you will, may improve the intent of the shot.
