Never said your photographs were bad, John. The macros are really awesome indeed.
How the hell do you get 27 shots of a living insect without it moving a hair? I can't even get close to them to take a single picture.. (Especially not bees or flies..)
But my point was about the camera.. Your pictures could've been taken with a Canon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus, etc.
Hell, the Canon 65mm macro could've done these without reversing anything, if I'm correct about it's specs.
You may continue rambling on and on about the superiority of your Nikon camera, but there hasn't been a single image that even remotely demanded the plus in dynamic range that a Nikon offers. Not even close (several stops from it, in fact!)...Show more →

you truly lack perspective. and that is a shame.
I don't know, it seems to me that the person who understands that all of the ILC manufacturers make phenomenal cameras might have more perspective than most. Nikon does some level of design, the rest is handled at the foundry. Who cares the balance, as others have said, the image is the important part. I am a gearhead and even I'm starting to struggle to find major differences between cameras these days - at least where image quality is concerned in the vast majority of real world situations. Sure, there are cameras with more or less dynamic range, but it's rare that I can't get enough DR with my D3s, and when I can't I either do a 3 shot bracket and stack them, or use my D500 if we're talking low ISO situations or a moving target.
My D500 really sets itself apart not by its sensor, but its amazing AF system.
I still shoot with the D3s I got in 2010, and it still takes amazing photos. I am only now looking to upgrade it before next summer, and that's mainly for the video features of the D850 (specifically 2 of them - no crop 4k and focus peaking). It will also be mighty nice to have 45MP to work with. Computing power and storage space aren't going to be a problem for me on the stills side (I am finding, though, that I will soon have to update my computer for the video).

that is another perspective which I have been to and dealt with. and your point is from what and who I was referring to? I am a technician and I find it, personally, relatively easy to differentiate these tools today from various perspectives and how they interact with what I do and how I choose to do it.

You may be a stakeholder, but not a stock owner, but of course, on this forum, many folks act like the brand of camera they own defines their very being.

To all you folks who seem to be on some evangelical mission to prove to the world that Nikon is #1, I have to ask, why keep posting here? You are preaching to the converted. If you really want to make a point, why not post these threads on the Canon or Sony forums?

I was asked to leave the sony forum awhile back. it was just short of a threat. so I did.
The Sony forum has a couple of vigilant watch dogs who sniff out apostates and chase them away, so the true believers are not deterred from following the One True Path of photography.

As long as I get purty pitchurs, I don't care who makes or designs the sensor.
exactly.
this is photography. why go all the technicalities of who or what or where the sensors come from. just like any machine, it's not wholly made by the name of the sticker plastered on it's hood/head. some of it's components are ordered from somewhere else. the bottom line is, it works well, it can help you take nice photos.
coz topics and discussions like this are on the border of fanboyism . Whatever brand we use; nikon, canon, sony, fuji or minolta or leica .............. it all boils down to us being photographers, be professional or just a hobby. As what Jack Nicholson has said in Mars Attacks "" Why Can't We All Just Get Along ?? """"
