Years of scouting paid off as I finally found a safe, and public, yet quiet fairy tale location for my family shoots.

1 and 7 are my favorites. I love the AA Milne quotes. I love that you found this secret place; composition; engagement. My only nit is the color -- looks like Fall or drought. I don't mean that to be harsh or criticize your style, Haley.
Thank you! This was a heavily tweaked preset that was a combo of a few different ones and then customized for this scenery. And then some photoshop was done as well. I edit pretty rich and vibrant.

Thanks for the comments! As to the "throw aways", I feel the opposite... my photo sessions include a large variety of candid moments, posed portraits, detail images, and images that aim to highlight a sort of voyeuristic feel that allow the viewer to almost get a sense of what the subjects were feeling and seeing at the time. These sort of overhead images to me highlight natural interaction of the subjects without forcing a composition. I always provide several of these types of images in my sets and that helps tell an entire story with feeling as opposed to just creating an entire set of predictable poses.

Thanks for sharing the reasons and thinking behind this. I primarily shoot sports, so that has shaped how I cull and edit photos heavily. People and portraits are something I'm still very undeveloped on, so understanding the whys in addition to the hows really helps.
