I really enjoy all your Pentax images with different K mount lenses posted here. In your Pentax-M 28mm f3.5 lens, is it a K-mount or M42 mount lens? I also noticed that there are K mount 28mm f3.5 lens with 49mm filter thread and some with 52mm filter thread as well. Are there any performance difference between them? Thank you in advance if you could provide some info.
Forgive me for jumping in. Both the M version and original K mount version are both K mount lenses. They are optically different. I’ve shot the 52mm original K mount one for years, it’s the only lens of its age I shoot regularly anymore. I’ve never shot the M version, but have often heard it may be a tad behind its predecessor.
In any case, you didn’t asked me, and maybe the OP has shot both and can give better advice.

Thank you so much for your reply. I remember that you have used your Pentax 28/3.5 adapter to Sony FE mount and posted many images including some comparisons. We may even had some PM exchanges regarding the comparison of Leica 28/2.8 R lens sometime ago if I remember correctly. I just got a K1000 with a 55/2 lens and think about adding a 28/3.5. Thank you again for the links and tip. I really appreciate it.
We may have talked, although I've never shot the Leica 28/2.8 R, would love to try the later E55 version though. Anyway, don't want to highjack the thread. It is definitely one of my faves.

Thanks for your kind comment and for following along in this thread! All of my lenses are bayonet K mount lenses coming either from the original SMC "K" series, the miniaturized "M" series, or the auto aperture "A" series. I have quite a collection and I enjoy using all of them regularly.
I can't speak specifically to your question about the M28f3.5 vs K28f3.5, but I'd suspect the K version might be slightly superior optically as Pentax wasn't trying to miniaturize that lens. Usually the larger lenses show an optical advantage, but this is only an assumption on my part. The links that were provided by tsdevine should provide some clarification.
Thanks again, and if you have some Pentax gear, please join in!
The sun came out for about as long as we were walking. The weatherman said the sun would come back out in the late afternoon or evening, but instead it rained. I think meteorology is a great career field. You can say whatever you want, be wrong 80% of the time, and not only keep your job but people keep coming back to hear what you have to say.
Anyway, here's what I got for today.
Branches and Blue by Jason Doss
Pentax K-1 mII Limited Silver and Pentax-M 150mm f3.5 at f11, 1/90s, and ISO 200

Today we took the path up the big hill. We don't usually go this way because, well the hill is big.
Pear Trees by Jason Doss
Pentax K-1 mII and Pentax-M 50mm f1.7 at f11, 1/60s, and ISO 1100
We got lucky with this one. The helicopter kept coming closer until it landed about 100m away from where we were standing. This is the last shot I took before they came too close for my lens.
Medevac by Jason Doss
Pentax K-1 mII Limited Silver and Pentax-M 400mm f5.6 at f11, 1/250s, and ISO 200
The weatherman said 0% chance of precipitation with clear skies. Guess what? It rained. Thankfully only a little bit, and we were able to hide under a tree for most of it. Has anyone seen any open meterologist jobs anywhere? I want one!
Oak Leaves by Jason Doss
Pentax K-1 mII Limited Silver and Pentax-A* 135mm f1.8 at f1.8, 1/125s, and ISO 100

Partly sunny today early, so the dog and I went out in search of photos. He wasn't looking for photos as much as he was looking for somewhere to poop.

Embarrassed to admit that I had to crop my fingers out of the left side of the frame.
Catkin Bokeh by Jason Doss
Pentax K-1 mII and Pentax-M 100mm f4.0 Macro at f4.0, 1/250s, and ISO 400
The weatherman said that the rain would come at around 6pm, so I had plenty of time for the dog walk. Left the house at 2pm and guess what? I have no idea why I keep checking the weather. At any rate, the cameras stayed home, and later on I took a couple shots of some of our Christmas decor.
Tiny Trees by Jason Doss
Pentax K-1 mII Limited Silver and Pentax-A* 85mm f1.4 and Godox TT350 flash at f1.4, 1/60s, and ISO 100, flash bounced off the ceiling

Pentax K-1 mII and Pentax-M 28mm f2.0 and Godox TT350 flash at f2.0, 1/60s, and ISO 100, flash angled to light up the dog and not the tree so much.
He got a treat for sort of co-operating with me.
A trip downtown for shopping and coffee produced this.

Last night, I finally took apart my 1.4x-L converter to fix a stuck locking pin. Surgery was a success, and the patient was already up and about this afternoon.

Well, it's Christmas Eve and Santa is probably loading up his sleigh right now. Hope you are all doing well and having fun with photography and family.
Here's a couple from this afternoon. It was extremely dark outside for only 3pm, and the viewfinder was quite dim.

Got home and attempted a light-painted multi-exposure. Definitely ambitious. This is a combo of four exposures, one each with the flashlight focused on the wooden flame.
