Hi all, did a session with a Catholic High School dance team. One of the girls had lovely freckles and incredible blue eyes, so did a quick shot of her like this. I know some people might think that I cooked her eyes but I didn't. I simply put her in really good light that brought out the colors in her eyes, and then did my usual light retouching.
I think if 100 photographers photographed this girl wanting to feature her gorgeous face/freckles and blue eyes, we'd shoot 100 different ways. And then we'd edit it 100 different ways as well. And that's one thing that I really like about photography. We have our unique visions of a shot.
So what you suggested would work perfectly for you, but I really like the way this turned out for me.
The only nit I could possibly have is (to me) there's just a little too much forehead with no or almost no detail showing. A slight crop or tiny exposure reduction there would put this over the top. But like you said--100 different ideas....
