Very nice. Maybe clone out those small bright specks. Might be dust on your sensor.

Welcome to FM! This is quire nice. It's fine as is, but consider bringing the foreground and upper right corner down a smidge. Also, consider toning down or cloning out the strongest of the OOF stems, especially between the book and the coffee cup.

This proves just how nice the modest 85mm 1.8 can be. I have it in my kit and love it for portraits.

Lovely shot. I like dmacmillan's suggestions.
May I ask how you illuminated her face?

I noticed one other thing when a brought the image back up. I got a very large version before it resized. Looking at it, I see that the focus is on the ring on her hand, not on her eye. Notice the texture of the sweater that's in the same plane as the ring. That's the tricky part of shooting wide open even at a relatively modest 1.8. DOF is so thin focus has to be spot on. It would be interesting to pull this image up in the Canon viewer and see which focus point lights up.

Thanks BigIronCruiser. I added them to get some interest in background. Didn't quite seem to work I guess.

Thanks dmacmillian. Didn't quite get what you meant by bringing down, do you mean the crop or the exposure? I have toned down the highlights a bit. Is this any better?

Thanks. The glow is natural. Coming from the grass reflection. Here is the raw crop

I like the image without correcting what others have suggested. I think the overall mood and tone are great. Lovely. Sometimes strong light just makes a pic seem natural--balances her dark tones to my eye. The only thing I would do is lift the shadows on her right hand a little and on her thighs a smidge. Just to let her natural skin tones come through. The dark tones on her face are perfect and provide a clean look at her skin tones. I like the lighter area under her eye. Subtle, appealing. Excellent use of the dof as her profile pose allows all the important stuff to be crystal clear. I think I may even be able to read the book.

A nice composition with difficult back lighting. You did well with the fill/shadows.
