This is unreasonable advice. The internet is no place for civility and respect.

I think that this is a bit crazy. Its like a bride complaining that we didn't capture her bad skin. We are trained to hide the obese figures with posing. I agree that you need to be more careful on social media but come on.

No good deed goes unpunished as the saying goes. There are some brides that are best not taken on as clients.

What this bride fails to understand is that a posing of a woman or a man is done to show them in the most flattering manner possible. A woman will be at 3/4 to the camera or blocked in part by the groom or some device (furniture, fence, etc.) to that the entire torso is not broadside to the camera.

The photographer having failed with the posing of the couple while taking the shots tried to fix the shortcomings of the images and the fat bride and for this is to be commended and not attacked by this grossly overfed woman.

One thing I learned from this was what keeps bringing me back to the phrase "client is always right"
They're the ones who bring you money. They paid you. They keep your business rolling. Just do what THEY want.
Be humble on that part. Who cares if what they ask/do/perform against your wants/preferences. JUST DO IT.

And don't post crap about your clients online, it will bite you in the ass someday.

I've had so many of these stories, albeit not as crazy as this one. All I did is simply "nod and smile" type of deal.

What I just got from this...

1st half: This photographer shouldn't be in the business.

2nd half: The fat bride deserves to be fat shamed... because she's fat... and because the photographer shouldn't be in the business.

Seriously. That's what I just read.

Is that correct?

If you've done the research as I have, you'd see this is an older housewife that decided to pick up a camera and charge people. She simply deserves consequences for her actions. I'm fairly sure she's received them, and I'm quite sure they were warranted.

I am intrigued by this comment. It is hypocrisy in all its glory. I have no issue with it being pointed out the photographer in question was perhaps not very experienced and made errors of judgement, but what has her age or other occupation got to do with this position? 'Older' and 'housewife' are being used as disparaging terms in their own right in the post, yet to imply someone is overweight is then called by the writer as inappropriate and wrong. Why is it just fine to put people down due to their primary job and their age yet not OK to mention weight?

I have lost count of the times women who become or are on route to becoming keen or professional photographers are sneered at on forums for being mothers, housewives or for not being young, yet 'Dads' who start weekend paid work are great people bringing extra income to the family. There are many male 'pro' or part time photographers who are on a learning curve while charging people, but you never ever hear of them being referred to as 'ageing dad who calls himself a pro' or 'stay at home father picks up a camera and rips people off' or as a man who decided to "pick up a camera and charge people".

Its tiring to see the sexism in judging peoples careers and work standards and indeed in this post the double standards of what irrelevant terms are apparently 'acceptable' to use in a critical, derogatory way ("older, housewife, pick up a camera").

The quality of images and customer service provided by a male photographer (however good or bad) would never mention his age or other employment as part of a critique of his photo and business skills.
A Dad leaning photography is increasing his skills and on a possible new career path, a woman is just 'a Mom with a Camera'.

It is farcical and indeed really rather nasty, to complain about 'fat shaming' while at the same time disparaging a women photographer with irrelevant sneering personal comments in the very same post.

lol Triggered much?

I simply described the photographer. Simple research will lead you to her profile image, and an exact match to my description of her. Her !@#$%^&*( older husband is even in the damn picture. lmao By all means, please point out where I "put [her] down" for being exactly what she is. lmfao

So If I say the bride looks fat because she is actually fat, that's ok?
Pigs arse it would be!
There would be 20 posts in an hour going on with all manner of lambasting me for being cruel and insensitive and a bastard and everything else as well as excuses about she can't help the way she is and other defences for what they actually were.

J knight is spot on.
If I said she was fat, Asian, black, Jewish or Muslim, ( you are all cringing at just reading those words) There would be a shit storm of protest saying that it's racist/ unacceptable/ and what ever to say that about a person even when that is exactly what they may be and actual fact.
There is NO question the mere description of those characteristics would be deemed insulting just by their mere mention and WOULD be seen as insulting and deemed wrong and unnecessary.
Wouldn't need any insult, just the mention of the term would bring the bleeding hearts out of the wood work.

It would be all about race/ religion has nothing to do with it, HE was just a photographer and anything else didn't matter.

That would be the standard applied yet its ok to dismiss someone as "just being a housewife/ mother with a camera."

Sorry, It IS double standards.

If you are going to get all pc and protect one lot of people from being described as what they may entirely be, Then why is it that another classification of people does not get the same consideration/ protection?

I think all this not being able to describe someone as what they are is a load of BS but if you are going to have a rule or policy on something, It needs to be the same for everyone otherwise you really are insulting people by protecting one group and not another.

You're an idiot; and I'm saying it, because you actually are.

You obviously did not read what I actually wrote; and simply read JK's liberally triggered response.

"Fat" is a derogatory description. Plain and simple. I never said anyone was "fat" in any derogatory manner; simply because it isn't my opinion.

"Older housewife" is NOT a derogatory description - unless YOU choose it to be in YOUR mind. Plain and simple. I never said anyone was a "older housewife" in any derogatory manner; simply because it isn't my opinion either. It's a description of what she actually is. Look it up.

The bride is overweight. Stop putting words in my mouth. I couldn't care less the bride is overweight. I've simply stated my opinion of the photographer this whole time.

If you are reading this much into what I stated, you're triggering your own self because you want to. Plain. And. Simple. Get over it.

Don't go getting yourself into a hysterical hissy fit because someone made some excellent and valid points about your complete and utter hypocrisy. No point trying to spin doctor what you said now and your subsequent response only proves your hypocrisy and how you want to twist things to meet you own agendas.

Did the nurse forget to bring you your medication today? Sure sounds like it. Best you go and and have a little lie down before you make yourself look any more silly than what you already have. If you had the stupidity to call me an idiot to my face, I guarantee you'd be having a real good lie down but personal name calling on the net from the safety of the other side of the world is so pathetic, it's really quite laughable.
It is a very accurate reflection of how weak and truly pathetic some peoples character really is though and when they are scraping the boom of the barrel to validate a point when there is no creditable way to do so.

Fat is a term that is accurate and descriptive of some people. If YOU want to say it's insulting, Fine. How you can even propose that other terms are not, is just laughable.

Are you Fat? Is that the real problem here?
I am FAT. My wife was FAT. If someone came up to me and said "You're fat", I'm not going to get all bitter and twisted about it because My house does have mirrors, we do have bathroom scales, I have a doctor that tells me I'm fat and need to loose it and I'm not deluding and kidding myself that I am anything else.
I'm not proud of the fact of the way I am, but rather than try to deflect blame for my own shortcomings by proposing someone is in the wrong to state the painfully obvious truth, I take it as a heads up that I need to get off my lazy wide arse and do something about the way I am.

Some FAT people don't want to take personal responsibility about the way they are, they blame everything and everyone else for their problems including those that tell the truth in saying they are Fat.

If someone comes up and accuses me of animal cruelty then they better be able to out run this fat ol fart because that I would take exception to because it is a lie.

The truth may not be what we want to hear but that does not mean it's wrong or derogatory simply because it's not blowing sunshine and rainbows up our nether regions.
If Fat is derogatory, then older house wife is exactly the same if it is describing what people actually are.

Again you can spin doctor it and try to make your own fictional standards to protect your hypocrisy and guilt all you like but don't act all hard done and try to create excuses for what you have said and the stupidity of your arguments.

I've called you out for being much worse than an idiot and I'm not on the other side of the world. You know my name, where I live, my phone number and have a previous invitation to second shoot for me and to meet over a 'coffee'. But what did I get? Either total silence or more childish behavior, which is what I'd expect from an anonymous alter ego making threats on a web forum. Instead of making empty threats to people on another continent, threats you will never need to or intend to carry out, best stick with your 'Oil Burning' where you can get away with looking and acting like a bogan. And practice your forklift driving up Taree way, you look like a six year old on L plates for god's sake. The forum drops to kindy standard, your personal standard, every time you come looking for a fight and how you're permitted to continually get away with it is a mystery.

So I am in the wrong for not wanting to have a coffee or second shoot with you.
And why in the hell would I have any interest in doing that?
Who the hell you think you are? Royalty??

If you have any thought I'd want to lower myself to have any association with a self important geriatric like yourself who thinks they are gods gift to the backarse town they live in, you really do have some enormous tickets on yourself.

Seeing you are such the clever detective, why don't you come to me and tell me what you think of me in person?? I'd love to hear it, just meeting you is not something I care enough about to put any effort or time into.
