Here are a couple of compositions from Friday night along the Upper Yosemite Falls trail. The portrait view is what I had pre-envisioned, but I liked the lights from the valley in the landscape view as well. Both shots are single exposures.
Pretty nice work here. You did pretty good with getting the Milky Way to show up even with that moonlight. I like the look of #1 the best, though I do like seeing more of the Milky Way spread across the sky in #2. I don't care for the valley lights in #2 though that would have been hard to avoid.

That's my struggle with the 2nd too. I got low to try blocking lights with the trees and cloned out a few as well, but didn't want to make the wholesale changes necessary to get rid of the rest.
An excellent example of the only time blue sky is accurate in nightscapes - when there is bright moonshine. Good job.
