Among the sonys, the nikons and even the last canons, this would mean the 6d is the worst , by far, concerning DR. You don't pay 2000$ for this.. sorry, I dont.

I'm right there with ya. I have gone round and round full circle on this.
After reading all the DR hype and getting sucked into it, I was just about to cancel my pre-order the other day.
But then reality kicked in.
I have never once heard anyone complaining about the DR or ISO performance of the original 6D. Matter of fact, it has always been highly praised for these very things and still is 5 years later.
Now suddenly after these initial reports, whether they are correct or not, it appears that the original 6D DR and ISO performance is in fact not good enough and must create terrible photos. Strange how we never heard any of those owners complaining before.
So here's where I'm at with all this.
I have never shot the 6D, but from what I've read and understand from most users.
They wanted faster frame rates. Canon has now delivered
They wanted better AF including AF @ f/8. Canon has now delivered
They wanted a flippy screen. Canon has now delivered
They wanted more MP. Canon has now delivered
And correct me if I'm wrong but at least two of the above improvements can reduce DR.
1) Faster SS
2) Higher MP
And yet with these improvements we are still seeing close to the same DR as the original? Wouldn't this indicate that the DR has infact been improved?
Granted, I don't understand why the 5DIV can achieve all the above and then some and still see a nice bump in DR, but hey, it's a Pro model that cost an extra $1,300 so why shouldn't it.
Good points, and here is a different perspective...
Is it worth over $1100 (6D vs 6D2) to get the following:
- 2 fps more
- 6Mpx more resolution
- Flippy touch screen
- Supposedly better high ISO handling
- Faster 45 pt AF, despite all 45 AF points are in the same area as the 6D 11 point span
- PDAF
For some, it will be a resounding yes, for others, the lack of 4K or better DR might be enough to skip the 6D2. For those that have a 6D, by time they sell it once the 6D2 is out, then go buy a 6D2, I feel the outlay of cash will be $1100 or maybe more, depending on payment fees, shipping, insurance etc.
$900 more moves you to the 5D4 (assuming lightly used/refurb)... That nets you:
- 4Mpx additionally to the 6D2
- 4K cropped video
- Lose the flippy screen, still get the touch screen
- 1/8000th shutter
- 1/200th flash sync
- Better build
- Dual cards
- 61 AF points, spread out a tiny bit more
- Better DR (purportedly, it depends what we see at release)
- Ergos matching other mid level bodies, like a joystick

For me, no. OTOH, soon it won't matter, 'cause there won't be any new 6D cameras left. After that, the price and performance differences between the 6DII and 5DIV will be the main game.

'....by far...'. Really?
Let's see how it perform above ISO 400 then see how 'far' behind it is.

Some people will have some tough choices.
You mean suddenly the 5D4 is a viable and cost effective proposition? That is a turn up for the books from 2 months ago.
Maybe the the 6D2 was just that - a stepping stone for people to think 'for only $900 extra....'

That is exactly where I've been bouncing back and forth. In my mind the 5DIV (refurb) is only an extra $800 and is extremely tempting, but it has many things I don't really care about. Out of your list, for me personally the only line items I would like is the DR and AF system. I just can't justify the extra $$ for my hobby.
Sure, it's clearly the better camera and if it had a flippy screen I'd have already bought it and wouldn't be stalking this thread every day.
I have struggled with this decision but until I get my act together (both behind camera and in post) and can produce images the exceed the camera body I'm using, what's the point.
In other words, I think the new 6DII will be more than enough camera for my abilities for many years to come.
If not, I'll be stalking the 5DV thread next.
And yes, I agree if someone is coming from the 6D it would be even a harder decision. Fortunately I'm coming from a 5DII and a 70D so the step up makes it a little easier.

Still would really like the tilty flippy screen, the new viewfinder, the new mode 2 gps, the AF system (mainly for f/8 focusing so I could get a teleconverter for my 100-400), the new live view dpaf functionality, and the extra 6mp would be nice. Those are the big things for me, just not sure that without a DR increase its worth the asking price, after all, the 6D still works like a champ.
"The 6D still works like a champ."
It sure does.
Prior to this announcement, I don't believe I noticed complaints about the 6D's sensor and its "limited" dynamic range. Image quality has always been considered a strength of the 6D.
For me, this underscores how tedious this obsession over one particular sensor metric has become. Even if the 6D2 merely matches the image quality of its predecessor, it will still meet the needs of the majority of photographers.
The dedicated landscape shooters for whom extended dynamic range at base ISO might occasionally be important are unlikely to choose a 26Mp camera in any case, I think.

Not a thing! However I'm looking for FF right now to replace my 5DII. There's a good chance the 80D might find it's way into my bag as well someday, just not right now.

+1
The dedicated landscaper is probably NOT who the 6 series is built for.
Now, if it was a 6D2R ... then we'd be starting to head that direction. Really, that should be the 5DsR II with flippy screen.

This alone was reason for me to leave the canon camera thingy behind me in 2014. Never regretted the move to another brand, difference to 5D MkII/III was big for all my landscape shooting at low ISO (never cared about high ISO performance).
The dedicated landscape shooters for whom extended dynamic range at base ISO might occasionally be important are unlikely to choose a 26Mp camera in any case, I think.
True, here I agree. Only if it comes down to a question of cost, then < 36 MP sensor resolution is an alternative if it still has the same DR performance which Sony delivers.

5DSR has just a bit more DR than 6D and less than 5DIV. And it is inferior to D810 hands down.
So there is no option in Canon line-up that has BOTH high MP count and high DR. So a Canon dedicated landscape shooter has to make a choice anyway. And any available choice has its own caveats. IMHO, the simplest choice is 5DSR and exp. bracketing if needed.

I did not realise it was a 110% Canon fanboy forum here.
Am I free to decide what is important to me as a potential buyer?
Seems that I need to think like some guys here, and if not I am a troll...
I have a 6d and Canon/Sigma glasses, so the 6d II interest(ed) me.
Good if it performs well above 400iso. But at this moment I will not spend 2000$ because of this, simply because it represents 2% of my shots.
I am disappointed. Can I?

I occasionally have to tell frustrated telesales people that when they've got to the point of insulting me, i'm for sure not going to buy whatever they are selling. I would proffer the same advice to you - insulting the forum membership will not win you friends or support, even from those who agree with your views on the 6D2.
