I never been a fan of the 35mm. Strongly considering this lens to have a 28/58 combo for Weddings and ditch the 35/85.
Has anyone switched from 35 to 28?
Loving the images on this thread
I'm 35-58 and have tested the 28 out twice. I really like it and just picked one up on the boards, but I think I'll probably still keep my 35 around just to be safe. The 28 is a little too wide in some situations and I might switch back from time to time. Awesome lens though.
The shots in this thread are amazing. It is not often you have a 28mm f/1.4 with a buttery smooth background. So often the WA lenses do not lend easily to smooth bokeh
I sold my 35/1.4G to buy a 24/1.4G, thinking it would make a nicer pair with the 58. A nice lens but sometimes too wide and I miss the great rendering of the 35/1.4G. Would or be better to buy a 35 again or to sell the 24 to get the 28? It looks so sharp, almost a sigma art rendering or is it similar to the 35/1.4g look?
I hade the 24/1.4G and, like you felt it was too wide for me as a prime. I have the 28/1.4G as well as the 35/1.4 Sigma Art. Also owned the Nikon 35/1.4G, but sold it because it was not sharp enough for me.
The rendering of the 28/1.4G is more like the Nikon 58/1.4G, with the sharpness of the 105/1.4G. Which is why I got it. To me, the three of them make a perfect prime kit. Or, if I am not looking for portraits, I swap out the 105 for the 70-200.
