A friend and I went to the Skyline Drive in VA to look for fawns. I have been told that 80% of the fawns in that area are born the last week of May. This friend is considering photography as a hobby, and I thought he might enjoy shooting fawns, (he did!). I did give a little help and then turned him loose.

We had a number of close calls on this overcast day, but no opportunity to get close shots. So we ate breakfast and then tried again. That's when we finally were able to get a few decent shots. All in all, it was still a good day.

2 - I think this was a political statement.

3 - This shot was so close, but the grass on the left spoiled it.

4 - Lunch break.

5 - This fawn was laying right next to the road in mowed grass.

6 - One last look.

7 - These little chippies were all over the place.

8 - Me and my new friend.

All very well done with the third a marvelous compostion Ron. I'm amazed you could get so close to the fawn for the photo

Perfect lighting and so interesting. Thank you for sharing this experience. Yes Morris...that third one is a 10! Perfect in every way. I don't think that grass ruins it Ron. Super lens!

Excellent work Ron! All are great shots but #3 is simply outstanding.

Excellent #3, Ron. The grass doesn't spoil it too much for my liking, you could try a tighter crop by mom's ear (avoiding the out of focus grass).

Thanx Morris. They are in a national park and somewhat acclimated to people. If you are slow and careful, you can sometimes get close enough.
