Thank you! The 105mm is a pretty slow focusing lens as it is but is decent. I'd compare the AF speed to the Canon 85L.
Yup, with the latest A9 firmware update Eye-AF was enabled with the Commlite.
I dare to say that the Nikkor 105mm is the best portrait lens I've ever used. I like it better than my 85mm GM, Sigma Art 135mm and Canon 200mm f2L...
Wow, I didn't know there was a Nikon lens adapter for Sony that actually worked well. I thought the a9 FW update was for the MC-11, Metabones, and A-mount adapters. Good to know, I may consider adapted glass now.
I had the 105mm f/1.4E and yes the lens is pretty slow focussing natively, similar to the 85GM. For the short time that I had it, it was fantastic! I still love my 200mm f/2 the most, but that was a hassle to carry around.

That's funny - I am still unable to sell my A7S (first gen). I love using that camera and love the images I get from it, much like the A9. To me the A9 feels like the perfected version of the A7S (for stills). I wish it were as light and compact, but I guess you can't have it all
Yes! I feel the same way although, despite my concerns about the size and weight, the better handling and battery life (never was a battery hater until I got the A9) make the size less of an issue. The A9 feels like an A7S with better resolution and more predictable colors (and of course vastly improved AF!).
For the image of my daughter on the previous page I was in AFc as I had forgotten to switch it back before shooting her pictures. Using Eye-AF it did keep her eye in focus.
Yup as long as the Commlite adapter doesn't confuse or hang the A9.
They pulled their latest firmware to improve on stability problems.
My older FW version 04 adapter seems more stable than my newer FW version 05 Pro adapter.
I plan on updating my Pro adapter to the FW version 06 they pulled.
Hopefully they will come out soon with a new version.
So far it's not obvious to me whether I have a faulty brand new Pro adapter.
Or whether the FW causes the problems.
Bought a K&F Concept Nikon adapter in order to use a cheapo Nikon-mount leftover from Samyang.
No AF and distorts a lot but fun to use sometimes. Kind of selfie too.
This is todays' pic, another manual focussing lens but this time newly obtained, a Mitakon 50mm f0.95. Kind of odd usage, that is a lens to be used only wide open.
Kinda mixed bag adding to the a9 repository here. I have been giving the a9 a momentary break since the RX10ivs arrival. Will get back to the a9 soon enough.

Wild Florida Bobcat! While hiking the trails along the wetland today looking for BIF opportunities, I saw several voltures huddled together on the trail not exactly in a hurry to get out of my way. Wondering what was going on I started to see several piles of feathers clumped along the trail. My first thought was that a gator most haven gotten one of the wetland birds...until I saw these pair of eyes crouched very low down to the ground in the long grass along side the path. My first wild Florida Bobcat sighting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobcat
