I have tried friend's 200/2vr for a few days and it was breaking my back. Case (CL-L1) plus lens plus camera (D750 fits in the case mounted on lens) was 5.7kg. Usability was poor (reversing hood which was really needed to protect big front element, mounting a camera to lens unlike reverse with smaller lenses). That lens was not fun, though results are nice.
I would have probably bought 105/1.4 if it were not so pricy, but I could get Sigma with promotion that made it just 55% of best local full warranty Nikon 105/1.4 price. Btw, Sigma has 4 years warranty here while Nikon only 2 years.
But now having the lens, I don't care about 105/1.4 much.

Wow that's saying alot. 200 F2 and 105 1.4 are two lens I've always lust over.
I bought the 135 1.8 and have used on family portait and one engagement session. It's more sharp than my Canon 70-200 2.8 II. I feel it renders better than my Sigma 85 1.4 Art too.
I never liked any of the ART Lenses, i really disliked the rendering. But ... this 135 ART is a killer portrait-lens! The first Sigma i will keep.
From what I understand the original owner or the father/dad of the sigma corporation passed away and his son took over and really revamped the warehouse or the production facility. So now there is probably 1 out of 500 lenses that are bad compared to what it used to be. I got this information from camera salesman and the Sigma representative himself. The 85mm art is also fantastic and superior to most other lenses. Including all of the Nikon glass. Anyway I'm glad that you are able to find a sigma that you're going to keep. Those are nice images you posted.
I really like the build quality of the art lenses compared to Nikon's plastic bodies. Metal just feels more stable and robust. Of course it adds weight, but I'm a big guy I can handle it.
I've been so busy lately that I haven't had many opportunities to shoot with this lens. The few times that I have shot with it I've really enjoy it. I'm really surprised more people don't own it. If your on the fence I highly recommend you give it a try.
I just picked one of these up. For shooting people, what focus setting do you find is most effective to nail shots wide open? AF-C Single Point, AF-S Single Point or AF-C Dynamic 9 point, etc.?

With all lenses, I'm always shooting AF-C 3D 51 point
Wow, really? OK, I will give AF-C 3D 51 point a try. I'm shooting with a D800E. I inadvertently switched the focus limiter on some shots already so I'm thinking about applying some tape to that switch.

Yeah me too, especially when I dual wield with the moneymaker or black rapid single straps.
Thanks. I agree and do think lens manufacturers like Sigma & Nikon should consider how easy it really is to switch on focus limiter, switch on or off VR, etc. unintentionally and design a switch that makes it less easy to accidentally activate or deactivate a setting on the lens.
Relatively SOOC: But the compression and beautifully wide aperture make for some great effects. This was shot in near darkness with the ISO cranked all the way up, so don't judge the lens's sharpness from this picture.
